**Restructuring of the Ground Floor of a House in Mondeville**
The current layout of the house includes a kitchen area with a bar, a central dining area that opens directly onto the staircase, and the main entrance leading into a veranda that also functions as a living room. Despite having large volumes, the spaces are poorly arranged in relation to each other, presenting several issues.
The clients reached out to us for two reasons. The first was to restructure the ground floor by creating a defined entrance, opening up the kitchen to include a central island, and improving the flow between the spaces. The second reason was for our capability to model the project in 3D. The clients needed reassurance about their home’s future, and 3D modeling was the best way to help them visualize the changes.
We started by creating a well-defined entrance by partitioning off the door to the veranda. This new hallway is enclosed with a glass partition to maintain brightness and leads to the stairs, where a new partition with two large closets was added. This partition helps define a new, elongated dining area.
In the veranda, the living area is positioned with a diagonal wall accommodating the TV, creating a virtual barrier with the dining room. Although the two rooms are open to each other, each now has its own distinct space. Finally, the kitchen opens up to the dining area with a large central island, as the clients requested. The house’s windows were also modified on the ground floor to create new openings.
With the 3D model, the clients can visualize their future project and feel reassured about the upcoming work. This 3D image will also help convey the somewhat complex project to contractors, simplifying their work.
