Modification of a Norman cottage near Honfleur. The cottage was historic, built lengthwise. The client’s request: add storage and separate the two upstairs bedrooms. Indeed, to access his room, the 17-year-old son had to cross his older sister’s room. A situation that could no longer continue.
The house had two entrances: one at the front and a second one a bit further away, leading to the laundry room. We opened a hatch in the ceiling of this second entrance to provide access to the upper floor. The new staircase led to an oversized bathroom that was reduced in size. This new access is separate from the main house. This will allow the room to be rented out on Airbnb in the future. Additionally, custom furniture was added in several areas of the house to increase storage capacity.
Mindae handled the plans and the 3D modeling. The 3D model allowed us to verify the viability of the new bathroom located under the eaves. It also helped test different treatments (sanding or painting) for the renovation of the living room ceiling beams!
